Cameroon Mushroom Awarding, good for CFI???

I know the question is boiling in the minds of a lot of fans, if the Cameroon Film Industry is ripe enough for the spring of "mushroom awarding". The answer to this question is yes. CFI is ready to embrace as many award host as the days of a month. The spring of mushroom awarding started in 2012 which signals a rapid growth of the Cameroon Film Industry. When talent and creativity is awarded, we are able to see the zeal and motivation for quality and quantity in the Film industry. The Cameroon Film Industry/entertainment industry has so far hosted the following awards;

Ecrans Noir
The Dream Africa Movie Awards (DAMA)
The Cameroon Entertainment Awards (CEA)
The Cam Movies Merit Awards (CMMA)
Elegance 237 or Cameroon Diaspora Awards (CDA)

With the exception of Ecran Noir, The rest of the Award emerged in 2012 alone though the Dama was however at it's second edition.

In 2013,  the Cameroon Film Industry will be blessed with even more Awards. Early 2013 has seen the birth of the Cameroonian Movie Awards (CMA), which is said to be holding this July 2013 at Azam Hotel in Bamenda. 2013 has also seen the birth of the Cameroon Academy Awards or Sonnah Awards which is going to be holding at the Luxurious Hilton Hotel in Yaounde this December 2013. For those in-front and behind the Camera, this is good news.  A summary of Awards in 2013;

1. Ecrans Noir (??)

2. The Dream Africa Movie Awards (DAMA) possibly November 2013

3. The Cameroon Entertainment Awards (CEA) possibly August 2013

4. The Cam Movies Merit Awards (CMMA) possibly November/December 2013

5. Elegance 237 or Cameroon Diaspora Awards (CDA) possibly August/September 2013

6. The Cameroonian Movie Awards (CMA) possibly July 2013

7. The Cameroon Acadamy Awards or Sonnah Awards (CAA) December 2013

8. The Cameroon Film Critics Award (CFCA) Possibly December 2013

In total, the Cameroon Film Industry (CFI) will be hosting 8 (Eight) Awards this Year 2013. It is rumored that there may be more award coming before mid 2013.

Somebody shout Amen and Alleloya, this is wonderful growth we are talking about. We should all look at this in a positive light and appreciate the fact that some investment and appreciation is befalling our Film Industry.

More on this story will be coming as we move on.

Nchifor Valery & Others representing CFI in Burkina Faso

The New Year wish for most Film Makers from Cameroon this 2013 was to see the Cameroon Film Industry gain international recognition. There is all evidence to suggest that this 2013 dream is coming true. Cameroonian Zafaa Award wining and Cam Movies Merit Award winning actor Nchifor Valery and a host of other film makers are at the FESPACO Film Festival taking place in Burkina Faso. Nchifor Valery is said to be representing the award winning movie "OBSESSION" where he played lead role, produced and directed by all time editor "Achille Brice of Binam Studio. We also learned that the director of the International Award winning movie NINAH'S DOWRY, Victor Viyuh also traveled from the United States and currently in Burkina Faso.  Apart from the two films mentioned above, there are other films from Cameroon at the festival. This comes after Cameroonian Award wining producer Agbor Gilbert also returned from Turkey attending another prestigious film festival.  It should be noted that the trip, hotel and other travel expenses are proudly covered by the Cameroon Ministry of Culture.

The movies "Supplication", "On the Brim", and other great Cameroonian movies are also cued for ZAFAA 2013 in London.

2013 is a year of possibility for the Cameroon Film Industry.

Controversy: CFI General Assembly - Today 16 February 2013

The CFI Controversy

Last month, the public was hinted about the Cameroon Film Industry (CFI) general assembly meeting. This meeting is a long awaited meeting and the general  public, film makers and fans of CFI are anxiously waiting for the outcome of this meeting, which might determine the future of Collywood. Speaking to some of the key organisers of this meeting yesterday, it was confirmed that the meeting will hold today at HOTEL RESIDENCE CARLOS in MUEA-BUEA. We also learned that the date was changed in Bamenda after the burial of one of Cameroon's top actress (RIP). However, despite the controversial information, we were told that the CFI general assembly will hold, despite the fact that it will not favor every stakeholder in the industry. The interim  president of CFI Waa Musi could not be reached for comments. However, the interim SG Chatoh Colins will be briefing Cam Movies during the course of the day. We hope things are resolved and that we don't end up with a more divided CFI.  We were also hinted that AGE Production CEO, Agbor Gilbert Ebot flew back to Cameroon from the USA after the shooting of PINK POISON RELOADED to attend this meeting.  We will update the public about this meeting during the course of the day.

Hate this article or like Cam Movies - Who Cares???

In 2013, Cam Movies wishes to pride itself with greater successes. To ensure that we impact more in helping CFI grow bigger and bigger, we at Cam Movies have identified some areas we will wish to improve on in our activities in 2013. The list of to do list is not exhaustive as more suggestions and innovative ideas will be welcome along the line.

1. Building a website

In 2013, the Cam movies website which is at its building phase will be completed. This website will carter for adverts, new movies, Celebrity news, celebrity profiles, Top 20 and an e-commence page where films can be bought or watched online. Voting for the Cam movies Merit Awards 2013 will also start by mid 2013 on our  website. More details on the outlook of our website will be publish with time.

2. Top 20 Celebrity Classification

In 2013, Cam Movies will be classifying movie stars solely based on movies that are in stores. Movies which are not released will not be considered in our Top 20 Classification. Top 20 is not based solely on the number of movies acted but on the qualities of an actor or film maker. In 2013, our Top 20 classification will follow with pictures of the artist or logo of the promoter or production house. List of producers, directors, DOPs, will follow with movies they have done and their photos. List will be published on our website as well as on our blog, facebook page and on the websites of some of our partners and collaborators in Nollywood and Ghollywood.

3. General List of all Artist

In 2013, we will be introducing a general list of all artist which will still be in a classified format according to the best, from 01 to what ever number. For example, actors may drop from the Top 20 list back to the general list where their performance have declined and an actor may also leave the general list to the top 20 list when their performance have improved. An actor may only act in one film and move from the general list to the Top 20 list.

4. Collaboration
Cam Movies production intends getting into more collaboration work in 2013. Collaboration means co-production or sponsorship, depending on whether the project fits within Cam Movies internal policies.

5. Cam Movies Producers & Executive Producers
Cam Movies currently have 2 Producers and 3 Executive producers. In 2013 we will increase our number of producers to 5 and our number of executive producers to 5. Those interested in joining our production team will be requested to do so in writing and sent via email. We will also be in need of more production assistants in Cameroon.

6. Cam Movies Merit Awards

The CMMA will in 2013 be strictly based on submissions. No movies will be reviewed online. Submission for the 2013 CMMA has started and a couple of movies have already been submitted at Hotel Residence Carlos in Buea. Films must be in either English, Pigin or in French. The exact date of the CMMA 2013 will be announced in due course. The CMMA 2013 will have a nomination party as well as the Award nite itself.
Details of the CMMA 2013 will be announced in due course.

7. Cam Movies Equipment Hire
Cam Movies plan to set up a hiring and production house in Buea, where equipment such as lights, camera, projectors, costumes, Make up kits, props, etc can be hired. We have began purchasing some of the equipment for our own use as well as hiring. Equipment will be hired at very affordable prices but with strict undertaking of care.

8. Marketing
We are busing running our Cam Movie Marketing analysis and using one of Cam Movies Production "Troubled Kingdom" for the survey. As soon as we conclude our marketing survey, we will fully launch the marketing branch with all the tools of marketing and the staffing.

This are some of our major plans for 2013. We do have other minor plans not listed here but we believe we shall announce any new developments in due course.

FAB6 - The Actors Cult, Created in Buea

FAB 6 is the new branding of some of Cameroon's Top Celebrity and Award winning actors. The group Fab  6 was created some few days back in Buea. The Fab 6 as they are called drafted a memorandum of understanding among them. The Memo stipulates the terms and conditions of recruiting a member of the FAB 6 to act in a movie. The memo also stipulates conditions that must be obeyed by its members. The FAB 6 is made up of;

1. Epulle Jeffery
2. Nchifor Valery
3. Kang Quintus
4. Lynno Lovette
5. Desmond Wyte
6. Libota McDonald
FAB 6  From Left Quintus, Valery, Wyte, Jeffery, Lyno, & McDonald on the Eve of DAMA in Bamenda

We were told that the Godfather of the FAB 6 is called the FAB Father, Colonel Dickson, the proprietor of Hotel Residence Carlos in Muea - Buea is the FAB Father. Each of this actor is worth as a minimum price tag, 150,000CFA per day. We were also informed that the FAB Father has put them each on a monthly salary of 150,000frs each a month, whether they are acting or not. These move by the FAB father and the FAB 6 have made this actors the most selling actors now  in the Cameroon Film Industry. Why Producers are not too comfortable with the price tag, the group remain loyal to their memorandum of understanding.

We learned of the FAB 4, which is made up of 4 high profile actresses in Cameroon. We will disclose their names and more about the FAB 6 and FAB 4 in our next write up.

"My Talents has not been given enough exposure" - CAM MOVIES Interview with Top Cameroonian actress RUTH NKWETI

INTERVIEW WITH THE CELEBRITIES
INTERVIEW WITH TOP ACTRESS RUTH NKWETI

Cam Movie (CM): Good day Ruth

Ruth: good day

CM: Can you tell us about your place of origin?
Ruth: I’m from Awing in the north west region

CM: Can you tell us about your academic background?

Ruth: did my secondary education in PSS Mankon, high school in PSS Bafut and got a BSc. In Political Science from the university of buea

CM: when did you start acting in Collywood Movies?

Ruth: If I can recall right, that may be in 2008

CM: What inspired you to become an Actress?

Ruth: it was not some big epiphany but something that was inborn. I always liked impersonation and I was happy doing it. And when you make a career out of something you love, life is bliss
J

CM: where are you based?

Ruth: I am based in yaounde but I move around a lot. Stagnant settings kinda bore me
J

CM: Do you have any other career other than Acting?

Ruth: yes I do. I host a TV show- ASPIRE AFRICA and do a little music

CM: How many movies have you Acted in so far?

Ruth: seven feature films, three short films

CM: which was your first movie appearance?

Ruth: that would be Obsession by Binam Studios

CM: You were in London last year after being nominated for best upcoming actress in ZAFAA how did it go
?

Ruth: it was amazing, totally serene. I was honoured to meet actors and actresses I have adored watching. I have kept in touch with a lot of them and it has helped me grow my art.

CM: You are young, beautiful and one of the most sorted actress in Cameroon what is your secret
?

Ruth: haha, really? Well to put it in one word: GOD. He is always there for me, helping me make the right decisions. He has seen me through my ups and downs and the light at the tunnel is always glaring
J

CM: Do you think your skills and talent has been given enough exposure so far?
Ruth: I don’t think so. You don’t see Hollywood knocking down my door do you?
J It’s a process and we are getting there
CM: Do you think producers need to invite Nollywood actresses to help expose our Actresses?
Ruth: that depends on what they do once they get here. For Cameroonian talent to be show cased, I believe nollywood actresses or actors should feature, not star!

CM: Who will you say is your best director in CFI?
Ruth: I cant really pin-point. The different directors have their strengths in their different genres: be it glamour, thriller or epics

CM: Who will you say is your best Producer in CFI?
Ruth: mmm, don’t really know

CM: Who will you say is the best DOP in CFI?

Ruth: I would say Penjo Pete

CM: in acting who will you consider your role model?

Ruth: easy one. Genevieve Nnaji and that’s because she is her own woman talented, strong, yet appealing to all

CM: You do music and have worked with JOVI, SINE, X-Malaya etc, how do you manage the two industries? Ruth: its not very different. You have to become a character for either of them to work. I always become what I have to be so that the right emotion can be conveyed

CM: You have so far had 6 Award nominations, in CEA, ZAFAA, Ecrans Noirs etc how do you feel?

Ruth:  I feel motivated to work harder. Don’t get me wrong, I am honored but I am not yet at the top of my game

CM: If you were to propose some changes you will like to see in CFI, what will they b
e?
Ruth: I would like to see attitude changes: recognizing every individual talent for what they are and giving mutual respect to their artistry

CM: where do you see yourself in 5years as an actress?
Ruth: settled with a family but still working my butt off

CM: Which has been your worst shooting experience so far in CFI?

Ruth: can’t really point fingers but I would give hints- crappy hotel, horrible food, poor time management, geez

CM: What is your advice to young aspiring actresses?

Ruth: just be true to yourself, if you get into show biz for the wrong reasons, it will eat you whole and spit you out in pieces. You need to love what you do

CM: where can Cameroonians out of Cameroon get copies of your movies?

Ruth: you can get them at Residence Carlos in Buea, Magic Touch in yaounde and Buea and at the various production houses

CM: Do you have any projects in the pipeline?

Ruth: two projects still in the talks but not yet in the works

CM: Thanks for taking out time to participate in this interview with Cam Movie

Ruth: my pleasure

Thanks,
Cam Movie
